The Mediterranean Alliance for Sustainable Tourism post COVID-19 (MAST project), through its representative in Morocco, Mr. Houcine ABENKCER, was presented at the International Conference on Sustainable Tourism and Territorial Development organized at the University Sultan Moulay Slimane of Beni Mellal, under the theme: “World Tourism in the Post-Covid: A prospecting of prospects”, and this during the period from 24 to 26 February 2022.
According to observers, the conference was a real opportunity during which Moroccan and foreign experts and researchers have studied various scenarios, which contribute in some way to the development of tourism after the health crisis caused by the pandemic Corona 19.
Speaking during the plenary session, the representative of the MAST project Mr. ABENKCER stressed the importance of adopting sustainable and eco-responsible solutions, in the face of this unprecedented health, social and economic crisis caused by the pandemic.
The representative of the MAST project recalled that according to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), tourism has faced the worst crisis in its history. In this context was born the project Mediterranean Alliance for Sustainable Tourism post COVID-19 (MAST), which aims to redefine tourism in the context of sustainable development and sustainable practices, said the project representative.
This plenary session was an opportunity to present the objectives and main axes of the MAST project which aim to provide tourism enterprises with a set of tools to overcome the crisis of the pandemic in the Mediterranean basin.
The representative of the MAST project stressed that the approach of the project is based on online training modules for entrepreneurship in the field of sustainable and rural tourism. It aims to create practical business plans for sustainable tourism.
As a reminder, the opening session was marked by the participation of Mr. Nabil Hmina the President of the University Sultan Moulay Slimane, Madam President of the Commission of Sustainable Tourism – Council of the Region Beni Mellal – Khenifra, Madam Director of the Regional Council of Tourism; Beni Mellal – Khenifra, Madam Director of the Scientific Research Laboratory LGS, and Mr. Deputy Director of ENCG of Beni Mellal
The conference has known the organization of several panels that deal with the different themes of sustainable tourism at the national, continental and international levels, and also an opportunity for debate and exchange between Moroccan and foreign experts.
